Autism is a developmental disorder that affects one’s motor and social skills. These deficits lead to difficulties functioning in the classroom, in the workplace, and in the home. Additionally, misconceptions about autism and a general lack of understanding of people with autism cause autistic people to become isolated and disillusioned in society. Remedying this begins in the classroom with educating teachers so that they can support their students and create an inclusive classroom. Parents also play a part in how they choose to raise an autistic child. Methods such as Applied Behavior Analysis that have been used in the past are being called into question regarding the ethicality of their practice.
